American Glass Research 2017
American Glass Research wanted viewers to glide from live-action footage into a glass-cutaway CG sequence without spotting the handoff. Mayoflux planned the shoot, directed on set, and then carried the project through edit, color, sound, and full 3D animation. The live plate ends on a tracked dolly move; on the final frame, matched CG takes over, revealing internal stresses and fracture patterns with pinpoint accuracy.
The challenge was blending the glass reflections and transparency in both worlds so the seam stayed invisible; 2 renders from 2 different HDRI dome lights solved the problem. That shot faded from the raw footage, to a version of the render that had one HDRI to another version with a different HDRI. The finished piece became AGR’s flagship explainer for a time, and that subtle transition remains a favorite talking point at industry workshops. Mayoflux turns complex visuals into clear stories - let’s simplify yours next.
