Near Earth Autonomy 2022

Near Earth Autonomy’s next-gen flight-control demo needed visuals as advanced as its lidar navigation. Guided by PMI creative director Damien D’Amico, Mayoflux rebuilt the prototype drone from engineering meshes, optimizing geometry for close-up renders and adding rigged rotors, gimbals, and antenna arrays.

Working from the supplied 3D model, the team handled modeling tweaks, full animation, and lidar like particle effects. Cinema 4D helped visualize obstacle-avoidance maneuvers with some new spline techniques; Redshift rendered carbon-fiber weave and running lights in photoreal detail. The main challenge was depicting invisible sensor data without cluttering the frame, so custom particle trails and translucent point-cloud grids faded in only when they clarified a maneuver, then dissolved before the next beat.

The finished sequence premiered at an aerospace tech summit and has since headlined Near Earth Autonomy’s investor deck. The collaboration showcased how cinematic polish can make cutting-edge research instantly understandable. Mayoflux turns complex visuals into clear stories - let us simplify yours next.
